Some Basic Statistical Equations for Histogram Fitting

In this paper we consider fitting of a histogram, say a time distribution, with a fit function f(x, t), where x≡ {xi} is a vector of fit parameters. We start with the equation for statistical fluctuations of fit parameters as functions of fluctuations in the number of counts in the histogram channels, Nn, and discuss the following topics: • statistical errors and correlations of fit parameters; • bias of fit parameters for χ = ∑
